June 2018 — Top automotive supplier Yazaki named Champlain Cable Corporation Environmental Health & Safety Supplier of the Year at its annual awards ceremony, Tuesday, June 5, honoring them with the EHS Supplier of the Year Award.  Champlain Cable was chosen from Yazaki’s top suppliers in North and Central America.

“It is impressive how far this program has come since I first implemented it in 2007. Yazaki places a high value on our strategic suppliers who partner with us, and their shared commitment to the environment,” said Ken Pichla, Head of Purchasing and Procurement at Yazaki North America, Inc. “As we continue to work together we can affect significant change for a greener tomorrow.”

Champlain Cable is honored to have been recognized for its continued commitment to environmental stewardship, sustainability, and workplace safety. We have reduced our energy consumption by more than 13% over the last two years resulting in the reduction of more than 500 metric tons of CO2 emissions, diverted more than 22 tons of waste per year from landfill, reduced our injury rate to 2.4 recordable injuries per 100 employees, and have not had a lost time injury in more than two years. While these accomplishments are significant, we continue to implement improvements in our processes and business strategies with a goal to achieve even better EHS performance in the future. This effort is driven by a company culture fostering safety first, quality, innovation, collaboration, commitment, and personal responsibility.

“Champlain Cable is proud to have received recognition for its commitment to environmental, health and safety improvement from one of its most important customers”, said Bill Reichert, President and COO of Champlain Cable. “This award reflects the commitment all of our employees have to preserving our environment and promoting a healthy and safe workplace that will insure continued growth and sustainability of the company, its workforce, and the community.”
